Much to our delight, the greatest TV comedy character Alan Partridge returned to our screens last month. The new series “This Time with Alan Partridge” has been widely successful with both fans and critics. Last night’s episode has to be the best episode yet.
Joining Alan Partridge on the couch for this St Patrick’s Day special was Sligo farmer and Alan Partridge impersonator Martin Brennan, also played by Steve Coogan. In this hilarious clip, Martin comes out with some fantastic one-liners on how out of place Alan Partridge would be on a farm in Sligo. Some of my personal favourites, “He’d be given turf to the sheep” and “trying to get a pig to lay an egg”.

The episode concludes with a rather surprising rendition of Irish rebel songs like ‘Come Out, Ye Black and Tans’ and ‘The Men Behind the Wire’ from Martin and his crew.

As the final credits come up and the gang of farmers finish the rebel songs, Alan Partridge mutters to his co-host Jennie “Oh my God, that was like an advert for the IRA.”, classic Partridge. Fair play to Steve Coogan for perfecting the west of Ireland accent.
This Time with Alan Partridge will return next Monday 25th March. Next week’s episode will be the much-anticipated episode that focuses on the delicate issue of the #MeToo movement. If last night is anything to go by this won’t be a disappointment.
Hopefully, somewhere down the line, we will see the return of farmer Martin and his friends.
