After years of speculation and endless waiting, an Irish children’s classic is finally being turned into a film.
Today Disney released the first trailer for Artemis Fowl, a movie based on the events in the first book of the beloved Artemis Fowl series by Irish author, Eoin Colfer. The movie looks like it’s set to become an instant classic if the trailer is anything to go by:

Written by Eoin Colfer, a Wexford native, Artemis Fowl is a series of eight novels that focus on the protagonist Artemis Fowl II, a twelve-year-old criminal mastermind who captures a fairy in order to help restore his family fortune.
The movie will star newcomer Ferdia Shaw as Artemis Fowl and Lara McDonnell as Captain Holly Short. Oscar winner Judi Dench is set to play Commander Root with Nonso Anozie, who stars in Game of Thrones and Cinderella, as Domovoi Butler, Artemis’s personal bodyguard.
Obviously, fans of the books series, with the first book released 17-years-ago, are incredibly hyped to see Colfer’s world come to life:
I AM NOT EXAGGERATING WHEN I SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER EVER BEEN MORE EXCITED FOR A MOVIE
Artemis Fowl was and still is my favourite childhood book series and while I’ve had my doubts about this movie, this trailer has just wiped all those doubts away https://t.co/KsQLpSP8ZS— Alice Was Born For This (@AliceOseman) November 27, 2018
