R. Kelly Denies Allegations Of Sexual Abuse In First Interview

R. Kelly sat down with CBS’s Gayle King to discuss the allegations made against him by four women, for ten counts of sexual misconduct. Since the release of the documentary Surviving R. Kelly, the singer has been arrested and has formally entered a plea of not guilty against these allegations. He is currently out on bail and has a court date set for 22 March.

In his first interview since the allegations were made, he went on air with Gayle King to discuss the charges.

CBS released a snippet of the interview, which is set to air on Wednesday, where the singer denies all the allegations and stated that they are trying to ‘double jeopardy’ him.

Speaking about two previous cases made against him, which he said he wouldn’t speak about during the interview, R. Kelly said: “People are going back to my past, and they trying to add all of this stuff to that, to make all of this stuff now, make sense.”

Gayle King took the interview back to the cases that are relevant now, asking R. Kelly why would the women say this about him, if it wasn’t true.

R. Kelly responded “Not true, old rumours, new rumours, future rumours, not true!”

She then asks if he has never held anyone captive, to which he denies saying;

“I don’t need to. Why would I? How stupid would that be for R. Kelly, with everything I’ve been through in my way way past, to hold somebody, whatever you said, 4, 5, 6, 50. How stupid would I be to do that.”

In the clip R. Kelly then asks which camera was on him so he could speak straight into it saying:

“Forget the blogs, forget about how you feel about me, hate me if you want to, love me if you want to, use your common sense. How stupid would it be, with my crazy past and what I’ve been through, that right now I’m going to be a monster and hold girls against their will, and don’t let them eat and don’t let them out, unless they need some shoes down the street from their uncle.”

“Quit playing. I didn’t do this stuff, it’s not me, I fight for my f**king life.” This is when R. Kelly becomes emotional.

The full interview will be out on Wednesday but you watch the preview here.
