The Sabrina The Teenage Witch series would never have been the same without her devious sidekick Saberhagen, a warlock doomed to spend a hundred years as a cat. Now, it looks like the Sabrina reboot is bringing back her trusted sidekick.
The feline might not be exactly as we remembered him. In the short teaser, Salem acts as Sabrina’s demonic protector rather than a fluffy sassy cat puppet who spills her secrets to her worrying aunts. One thing is clear: he’s definitely going to be a talker, maybe more Binx from Hocus Pocus than Salem.
Going by the clip, it’s unclear whether or not Salem will remain a silent cat or transform between demon and cat to advise Sabrina as she has to choose between the mortal or the witch realm.
What Sabrina will have as a confidant is her cousin Ambrose (Chance Perdomo) who, due to a binding spell, is stuck in the Spellman Mortuary for 75 years which is right in front of the Spellman home. In the comics, he’s portrayed as a witty and sinister character. We’re guessing he might help steer Sabrina in some devious directions if Salem’s busy protecting her from other demonic forces.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will begin on October 26 on Netflix.
