Dublin City University, DCU, has been named Dublin region’s top University for graduate employment.
New figures from the Higher Education Authority show that 79% of the Universities graduates find employment within six months of graduating.
The report also states that those in the 79% who don’t find employment within the first six months, are waiting to start employment within the next three months following.
This makes Dublin City University Dublin’s top third level institute for employment rates after graduating, beating out Trinity and UCD.
University of Limerick is still the top University nationwide for graduate employment. They’re only one percent up from DCU, so DCU is not too far behind.
These figures were released based on the Class of 2017.
Thrilled about these results, President of Dublin City University, Brian McCraith said:
“These results are very encouraging. They demonstrate that we are not only providing programmes that are relevant for today’s economy, but also that we are delivering highly sought-after graduates who are ready for the world of work and eager to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical setting.”
DCU cover a wide range of course, from Communications, Computers, Business, Music, and Science, as well as having joined forces with St.Patricks University in Drumcondra, adding teaching to the table. This gives DCU a broad range of students, who have mostly been successful in finding employment. One of the biggest appeals to both prospective students and employers is the practical element a lot of the DCU courses offer. DCU has a strong reputation for integrating internships and work placements as part of courses giving students hands-on work experience prior to graduating.
These statistics highlight DCU’s focus on employability in addition to the high level of education and care given to students, making them into highly employable graduates.
