With the announcement of the next Fantastic Beasts movie being released in November, the Harry Potter universe continues its expansion.
Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald will delve into the world of Grindelwald, the dark wizard before Voldemort’s time, as he tries to recruit enough wizards to destroy the muggle race. Dumbledore (Jude Law) recruits former student Newt Scamander to capture the big bad G.
While the short trailer reveals a love story between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, the return of our collective spiritual home (Hogwarts) and the lovable Jacob – a muggle from Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them – fans were most concerned about the backstory of Nagini which was partially revealed in the trailer.
Claudia Kim, who plays Helen Cho in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, revealed on Twitter that she will be playing the infamous snake.
Finally, I can say it!

In the trailer, Nagini makes an appearance in her human form, played by Claudia Kim. Most fans assumed the snake was biologically reptilian but the trailer tells us otherwise. Characters such as Peter Pettigrew, with the power of an animagus, have the ability to turn into an animal but we’ll have to wait for the movie to find out how Newt discovers Nagini and how she permanently becomes Voldemort’s snake.
Fans of the show will remember Nagini as being Voldemort’s loyal snake, a Horcrux that Harry must destroy in order to defeat Voldemort so the addition of Nagini’s backstory left fans in overdrive:
there are two parts of the new #CrimesOfGrindelwald trailer that literally made me scream:

“Nagini was a human woman all along“ really is a bold addition to JK Rowling’s list of post-series canon retcons. https://t.co/H3TsQplrwR

We cannot wait to see what else gets added to the Harry Potter canon.
