Krispy Kreme’s Drive Thru Will No Longer Open 24/7 Thanks To Honking Horns

Just last week the long-awaited Krispy Kreme’s drive-thru opened its doors to the public in Blanchardstown but already its opening hours have changed.

According to Dublin Live, the premises will change from 24 hours to opening between 6 am and 11.30 pm seven days a week, effective immediately.

The donut chain has decided to make the changes after locals lodged noise complaints over late-night beeping. Anyone who has visited the donut chain or the Blanchardstown area in recent days has witnessed the reaction to the chain.

Richard Cheshire, CEO of Krispy Kreme UK & Ireland said:

We anticipated a warm welcome for Krispy Kreme in Ireland and have long wanted to open a store here, but the response has been way ahead of our most optimistic expectations. For the customers coming into our store in Blanchardstown, the smiles and joy have been great to see. For the most part too, our drive thru has been a success but we know that the late-night noise has been an upset for our neighbours. Some customers have been beeping their horns and disturbing families in nearby apartment complexes. Most importantly, we are saying to our neighbours, we’ve listened and we’re making changes immediately.

Customers have queued in the drive-thru for over an hour to order donuts from the famous chain and queues have been forming for 24 hours straight.

A traffic management team will continue to examine late night queues in order to reduce the impact on local residents and the company is committed to working with the Gardaí and Blanchardstown Management to find a solution that works for everyone.

Of course, the jokes have already rolled in since the news broke:

As the old saying goes: this is why we can’t have nice things.
