Avril Lavigne Responds To Rumour She Has Been Replaced By Clone

Avril Lavigne has finally responded to the conspiracy theory that she was replaced by a clone by labeling it as “dumb internet rumour”. I know what you’re thinking, that is exactly what a clone would say.

So here’s how the story goes. The rumour that has circulated on social media is that Avril Lavigne is not the real Avril Lavigne, she is a body double named, Melissa. It is believed that the conspiracy theory started on a Brazilian Avril Lavigne fan page back in 2005. Following the release of her 2002 debut album and the success of Sk8er Boi, Avril struggled with the pressures of fame and began using the body double called Melissa.

Shortly after starting work on her second album it is believed that the real Avril Lavigne was found dead by her record label who then replaced Avril full-time with the imposter Melissa. The main reason eagle-eyed fans developed this theory is Avril prefered to wear trousers at red carpet events and Melissa prefers to wear skirts and dresses.

So that brings us to today, after 12 years of these persistent rumours Avril or Melissa if you prefer has responded.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, she had the following to say about the rumour:

More like that it’s just a dumb internet rumor and [I’m] flabbergasted that people bought into it. Isn’t that so weird? It’s so dumb. And I look the exact same. On one hand, everyone is like, ‘Oh my god, you look the same,’ and on the other hand people are like, ‘Oh my god, she died.

Avril Lavigne is not the first musician to be the subject of a clone conspiracy. Here are a few more to add to the list:

Paul Mc Cartney

Probably the best-known clone conspiracy, it is thought that the real Paul Mac Cartney died in a car crash and was replaced by a lookalike.

Taylor Swift

Conspiracy Theorists believe Taylor Swift is the clone of form satanic priestess Zeena LaVay, doesn’t sound that off the wall.

Beyoncé

And finally, Bey, it is believed that the Illuminati uses clones to brainwash society. Further fuel was added to this conspiracy theory when a Facebook user compared images of the singer form 2010 and 2016.
