Hot Holy Hell, Space Jam 2 Has Been Confirmed And We Can’t Wait!

LeBron James’s SpringHill Entertainment has announced that Terrence Nance will direct and Ryan Coogler produce a sequel to Space Jam.

The beloved original film, which was released in 1996, starred Michael Jordan along with the Looney Tunes cartoon characters.

Rumours that James would star in a sequel first began four years ago. Though, he was cold on them at the time.

Coogler is best known as director of Rocky sequel ‘Creed‘ and also ‘Black Panther‘. Nance recently created ‘Random Acts of Flyness‘ for HBO.

Speaking to the Hollywood Reporter, James said he loved Coogler’s vision for Black Panther, especially as there were no black superheroes when he was growing up.

“So for Ryan to be able to bring that to kids, it’s amazing,” said James.

The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie.

It’s so much bigger. I’d just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don’t just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.

Production for the film is set to begin next summer during the NBA off season.
